The National Trust owns many properties within easy reach or walking distance of Forest Garden Cottage, including most of the delightful village of Chiddingstone in Kent, complete with cobbled streets and the famous Chiding Stone, from which it takes its name. Nearby are Chartwell, Sir Winston Churchill’s former home, the beautiful moated Ightham Mote and the enchanting Emmetts Garden. The Trust’s founder, Octavia Hill, knew this area well, and a woodland is named after her at Toys Hill, from where there are magnificent views.

Frequent fast trains to London are available at Sevenoaks about 5 miles from Toys Hill.  Tunbridge Wells is a short drive through the beautiful Weald of Kent.
